• Discuss change orders before the contract is signed. Inevitably, changes will be made throughout a home addition/renovation. Often times, during a renovation, home owners decide to go ahead and tackle other projects they have wanted to do, but haven't had the time or money to do. Before work starts, make sure you agree with your contractor about how change orders will be handled. Understand that changes often affect the schedule and the budget, so it’s important you have all changes in writing.
